Summary

I am currently the National Director, Pathways at the University of Notre Dame, Australia, on the Fremantle Campus. I manage, collaborate and liaise with Executive Deans, Heads of Schools, Admissions, Student Recruitment Board to ensure efficient recruitment and delivery of the Tertiary Pathway Program and the in-school enabling program, UniPath, across our three campuses (Broome, Fremantle and Sydney) including satellite sites. Part of my role as Director is to foster effective relationships within the University and external stakeholders but also lead a team of academics to develop, teach and coordinate student centered, engaging programs and provide students across disciplines with academic support both face to face and online. A main part of my role also involves advising students of the appropriate undergraduate and post graduate degree programs they can apply for, academic support available, how to improve employability skills, apply for scholarships and generally improve their options to be eligible for employment in their field of study. I have also managed, designed and lead the Academic English Bridging Courses for International students wanting to study at the University of Notre Dame. The AEB Programs were TEQSA accredited. I have strong management and organisational skills, am an effective communicator – both written and verbal and enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging environment. I am professional in my approach to work and my team. I have high moral values and believe in honesty, fairness and integrity. I have strong leadership and management skills, am strategic, adaptable to changing environments, think creatively am very solutions driven. My strong interpersonal and communication skills together with my negotiation skills have afforded me the opportunity to build strong relationships with the Senior Executive Team, academics, professionals and with external stakeholders.

  • In my current role as National Director, Pathways, I have successfully demonstrated strategic and operational leadership and have designed and implemented academic programs that foster inclusive and supportive learning environments for students from diverse backgrounds
  • In my role I sit on many strategic committees like Student recruitment Board, Education Group, Learning and Teaching Committee and Student Equity and Access
  • I am actively engaged in all these committees and work collaboratively with academic staff, across faculties, to design Pathway programs that will sufficiently prepare students for the discipline they are going into
  • I teach in all Pathway programs and nationally direct Pathways across the three campuses (Broome, Fremantle and Sydney)
  • I have fostered excellent stakeholder relationships and work effectively and efficiently with school principals and careers coordinators and the prospective student office at the university

Director and Pathway Program Coordinator

  • My position as Director of Pathways was to lead a team of academics who support the students’ academic needs and focuses on their progress and success
  • The Centre provided academic support (SUCCES workshops, PELA integrated in disciplines, PASS workshops) to all students
  • The Centre also offers the Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP) that enabled successful students to articulate into undergraduate degrees
  • I worked with all the Deans, across disciplines to ensure the Pathway Program sets up students to succeed in their undergraduate degrees
  • I worked closely with Admissions to ensure the learning outcomes of the program aligned with the entry requirements and outcomes required moving into an undergraduate space
  • I engaged in Curriculum design and am an active member of the Learning and Teaching Committee
  • The Centre, under my leadership was also responsible for Indigenous student support and students with a disability (Access and Inclusion)
  • The TPP is designed to support all types of learning and follows a rigorous framework
  • I also collaborated with the VET CEO to ensure the VET courses taught on the Broome Campus facilitated a smooth transition into undergraduate degrees at UNDA
  • My role was dynamic and multi-faceted, challenging and required a hands-on management style, good listening skills, being able to adapt to challenging and ever-changing environments and being available to students and academics at all times

  • My position and role as Manager and Head of Humanities promoted my leadership, management and teambuilding skills
  • It also provided me the opportunity to be creative and innovative in designing an academic language course that is student centered, interactive and online
  • Students worked in class using their own devices (BYOD) through the College’s intranet platform – Moodle
  • I inducted students in orientation, assisted them with their timetables and monitored them in their Foundation Year of study
  • I also worked on designing many of the English Units to ensure they met UWA standards and learning outcomes
  • Assessments and moderation were carefully monitored, and all assignments were cross moderated
  • I led a team of 12 academics ensuring that delivery of the courses, assessments and moderation were clear and regulated
  • I provided sound pastoral care to all the students on our program
  • I also participated on UWA Open day to promote programs at Taylors College Perth

  • My position and role focused on teaching and assessing core first year communication and engineering competencies
  • Being Head of Academic Communication Skills and service teaching in to Engineering this fostered inter-disciplinary engagement, communication, assessment and moderation
  • I facilitated a faculty approach to the first-year experience of students by developing, monitoring and evaluating a range of processes and activities that were undertaken within the faculty to improve the students’ experiences during their first year at Curtin University
  • It also contributed to retention, and student satisfaction
  • Other duties in that role were mentoring sessional staff, collaborating between departments and faculties, supporting the teaching team and building resources, assessment and moderation practices as well as professional development for sessional staff
  • Part of my role and responsibilities was to liaise with offshore campuses in Malaysia to maintain consistency and compliance
