Griff Brindley

As a valued member of the SALT Lab team at UNSW, my role involves acquiring and managing naturally detached seagrass fragments for restoration projects. Contributing to the conservation of endangered marine species is very important to me and this position allows me to continue the work from my honours year in a professional capacity. Notably, this role offers exceptional flexibility, requiring only one day of work per week, including weekends, and thus will not interfere with other professional commitments.

As a member of Boiling Point, a weekly science radio aired on Eastside 89.7FM, I held a multifaceted role as a presenter, editor and lead interviewer. Collaborating with a passionate group of science communicators, I found immense creative fulfilment in my role and had the opportunity to further enhance my communication skills, technical proficiency, and networking confidence.

As a senior bartender, I had the privilege of honing my leadership skills while driving initiatives to elevate the customer experience. Beyond managing seamless operations, I also cultivated a talent for teaching and mentoring fellow team members. This role afforded me invaluable opportunities to refine my ability to inspire and guide, contributing to both individual growth and overall team success.

During my time at Bendooley, where I worked in the fine dining restaurant and bartended for numerous weddings, I gained invaluable insight into the significance of providing exceptional customer service. This experience not only honed my ability to anticipate and exceed guests' expectations but also reinforced the importance of maintaining a professional demeanour in fast-paced environments.
