My Career Goal is to ultimately help others and make a difference I am really interested in pursuing Counselling, working with individuals, families and most of all people with a Disability. I hope to accomplish this by gaining hands-on experience + furthering my education. I am most interested in working in a school setting or with an organisation.
My main interested areas in counselling are Youth, People with Disabilities, Mental Health and Family. With an emphasis on animal therapy, using animals to help work with people. EG Therapy dog or Equine therapy.
I want to be someone a person can go to when they need help, provide support and building relationships.
I have first-hand experience: I am autistic and receive counselling and support myself. From this, I am inspired to help others so they can get the support and help they need.
Being autistic I have had many experiences. From those experiences, I realise how vital Mental Health is and having people to help support you. I believe this will be valuable in helping me with being a counsellor. I am a good listener and am always keen to learn more and meet different people. Engaging with individuals and their interests, such as likes, hobbies, etc I am very organised and pride myself on routine, planning and time management, making sure things are up to date, in order and on time. My greatness weakness would be being too prepared!
