Hi! My name is Horiana (Hoody for short, as I find many struggle to pronounce my name) and I am seeking casual employment. I have only recently moved from New Zealand. I have worked many different jobs, from meat processing, to quality assurance and control, babysitting, being a kitchen hand, and also doing admin work for a CrossFit gym. I am very excited and keen on finding a job to get me on my feet as I navigate Brisbane, whilst learning new career and life skills, developing new friendships and of course familiarising myself with Australian society!
As a process worker at SFF, my mains roles included trimming and packaging meat.
- I was required to know how to keep my knives sharp using a steel and setter to be able to trim as efficiently as possible
-Trimmed meat off of bones as well as obtaining different cuts of meat from different parts of a carcass
- Packed meat according to the order sheet for the day. This included having to sometimes vacuum seal the meat, grading, dating and labelling, as well as checking the meat for defects
- Other small jobs included stock take, operating and cleaning machinery, doing pre op before the start of each work day, scanning and printing orders/labels and sometimes assisting with new staff
As a QA/QC at Watties, I mostly tested food products.
Customer service was my main role as admin
