Greetings, I am Hugh Munford: a Generalist Teacher/Learning and Support Teacher at Airds High School.
I am deeply passionate about helping students thrive and feel included, involved and welcomed as active participants within a positive learning environment. I am also interested in working with students with physical, cognitive and social-emotional disabilities, and finding ways to make learning more inclusive and supportive for all involved. The latter is due to both my personal experiences with my own cognitive disability (Dyspraxia), and as a caregiver for my father, who has been a quadriplegic since 2017. I feel that my experiences with both help me to appreciate what students with disabilities can accomplish when given the right support by both teachers and their peers. My passion for education and learning always drives me to grow and develop further, and I am deeply eager to engage with fellow professionals in the field of education.
I am experienced in developing Personalised Learning and Support Plans (PLaSPs) for students with additional learning needs/requirements, and in working collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop their professional practices to differentiate and promote greater inclusion of and support for all learners. I am also experienced in teaching across a broad range of year groups and subjects in my role as a generalist teacher, and supporting different faculties to implement differentiated content and resources to support and promote greater participation and learning opportunities for students.
