Position Title:
CFS Cadet (Volunteer)

Organisation:
South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) or relevant local brigade

Position Type:
Volunteer / Youth Development Program
Typically for ages 11–18

CFS Cadets are young individuals who participate in a structured youth development program within the Country Fire Service. The cadet program introduces young people to firefighting, emergency response, and community service in a safe, supportive, and age-appropriate environment.

  • Participate in regular training sessions and activities
  • Learn basic fire safety and emergency response procedures
  • Develop skills in teamwork, leadership, and communication
  • Assist with brigade activities such as fundraising, community education, and equipment maintenance
  • Understand the structure and role of the CFS within the community
  • Follow all safety protocols and instructions from adult supervisors and brigade leaders
  • Prepare to potentially transition into an operational volunteer firefighter role upon reaching the eligible age
