I am a organised and dependable candidate with the willingness to manage multiple priorities and take on added responsibilities to meet team goals all with a positive attitude. I have already learnt a lot in my short time in the mining industry, but I am determined to keep developing and learning skills that would help me become the best geologist I can be. I am a hardworking, ambitious, driven individual and have a great passion for the geology and mining industry.

Work History

Graduate Geologist

OraBanda Mining
07.2023 - Current
  • Assisting with grade control drill programs, including setting out grade control drilling programs, sample bag preparation, pegging holes, liaising with grade control drillers and sample collection.
  • Conduct ore spotting, bench mapping, and floor level checks to reduce dilution, maximise recovery of ore and to make sure mined material is sent to the correct stockpile.
  • Geological logging of RC grade control chips, including updating geology sections, plans and long sections with logging and sampling information.
  • Maintain accurate records of holes drilled, survey status, samples despatched and supply reports as requested by the Senior Mine Geologist/Project Geologist.
  • Undertake ore block markouts, including painting and taping of blocks.
  • Data entry of production data, logging and sampling data.
  • Conduct field mapping and sampling programs to improve the geological understanding of the pit, including what are the controls on mineralisation.
  • Provide geological assistance to other mining and exploration teams as required.
  • Have had experience creating dig blocks using micromine. Ore deposit is a narrow vein system, so it really emphasised to me how to make the blocks a mineable shape as well as recovering the highest amount of ounces.
  • Working with engineers and survey on what is the best way to blast the shot and where to put the ramps in order to maximise ore recovery. When to do ore markups without slowing down production and when to put out GC holes to make sure the pit runs in a smooth and efficient manner

Tennis Coach

Tiny Tots/Self Employed

  • Taught players rules and strategies to improve performance.
  • Demonstrated safe and effective use of sports and training equipment to minimise injuries.
  • Recommended stretching and mobility exercises to reduce risk of injuries.
  • In addition to group lessons I also have my own private clientele, with these students I make sure they work hard and develop so I can maximise their potential in the tennis world.

Vacation Work Student

Premier Coal
11.2022 - 01.2023
  • Worked for around 3 months on a vacation program at the Premier Coal in Collie doing a 5/2.
  • Shadowed the senior geologist and mine geologist, picking up various skills such as identifying geotechnical failures, how to determine where in the pits we should be mining to help productivity and meet demands, production geology, exploration program and what it ultimately means to be a geologist working at a company
  • Helped set up the exploration program at Premier with budgeting, making rosters, scheduling how long each drill hole will take and spending a couple days on the rig logging.
  • Learned about production geology and towards the end of the program, was in charge of making the coal schedule and making sure we met the coal specs, such as ash content, sulphur content and stockpile tonnage for the week.
  • After a couple weeks in I got my drone license which enabled me to do the daily coal reports and present the information I got from the pit to other colleagues in the daily morning meetings.
  • Learned and showcased my communication skills when we had to talk to the engineers or in meetings about what the plan was for the week and how we would deal with any potential issues.
