As a Zimbabwean-born immigrant to Australia, my multicultural background and experiences have profoundly shaped my aspirations. Inspired by my mother, who completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Cape Town, I have witnessed firsthand the invaluable impact of the training and placements at Groote Schuur and Red Cross Children's Hospital. These experiences have instilled in me a strong desire to pursue a similar path, believing it will greatly enhance my capabilities as a future medical practitioner. I am eager to contribute to and learn from the renowned medical community at the University of Cape Town, drawing on its rich history of excellence in healthcare and medical education.

· Goondiwindi Hospital - Emergency (2024) - 6 weeks

· Toowoomba Base Hospital - Mental Health (2024) - 6 weeks

· Northpoint Medical Centre -  General Practice (2024) - 6 weeks

· Toowoomba Base Hospital - General Medicine (2024) - 9 weeks

· Toowoomba Base Hospital - Surgery (2024) - 9 weeks

Placement experiences to be completed by December 2025 (third year): general medicine, surgery, rural medicine, general practice, and psychiatry. Competencies completed thus far include:

• IV cannulation
• Venepuncture
• Suturing
• Speculum Examinations
• Intramuscular injections
• Subcutaneous injections
• Male and female urinary bladder catheterisation
• Plaster of Paris application
• MMSEs

Placement experiences to be completed by December 2025 (fourth year): emergency medicine, anaesthetics, intensive care, paediatrics, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology.
