A passionate and driven Registered Nurse in rural Far West NSW with eight years of clinical industry experience working for NSW Health, Community Controlled Aboriginal Medical Services, travel nursing and working within my established business providing Mother Baby Care, Child Birth Education and Neuroprotective Developmental Care for Mums and Babies. I am committed to providing professional and compassionate evidenced based care in order to improve health and wellbeing outcomes of people living in rural and remote communities, specifically infants, children and families. My areas of specialty and interest are Paediatrics, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health, Maternal Child and Family Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Hepatitis and BBV management, Child Birth Education, Breastfeeding and Perinatal Mental Health.
Working on a casual basis as a Child and Family Health Nurse one day per week from October 2023 - December 2023 and two days per week from April 2024 until July 2024.
Performing administrative and bookkeeping duties for my husbands building company Remote Building Solutions on a part time basis.
Working as the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Youth health and Sexual Health at a community controlled Aboriginal Medical Service, During this time I successfully coordinated and delivered primary health care to Indigenous children and young people aged 9-19 in the Broken Hill, Menindee, and Wilcannia region and coordinated and delivered sexual and reproductive health services to the district. During this time I collaborated with a clinical research team from the University of Sydney to successfully develop and implement a clinical nurse specialist managed Hepatitis, BBV and Syphilis disease register in order to manage clinical care across the district that was drastically overdue when i commenced my role.
My duties included:
Completed 100 hours of clinical placement as a Graduate Diploma of Child and Family Health Nursing student through Charles Darwin University. Working under the supervision of the child and family health Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide infant and child health screening and surveillance, comprehensive family assessments and referrals and promotion of child health and wellbeing to high-risk Aboriginal babies, children and families with a high prevalence of developmental delay, domestic and family violence, neglect and abuse in Broken Hill and Wilcannia.
Working as a registered nurse in an 8 bed rural paediatric department caring for admissions of neonates, infants, children and young people up to the age of 18. I had previously worked on this ward for 4 years prior to becoming as registered nurse so transitioned smoothly into my role. Caring for a wide variety of paediatric presentations most commonly; respiratory illnesses including asthma and bronchiolitis, viral illnesses, bacterial infections, child and adolescent mental health inpatient care, toxin ingestion, trauma, head injuries, ENT and Orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, sepsis, allergy challenges and eating disorder admissions.
Working autonomously as a community registered nurse providing medication administration, clinical care and complex wound care to community members in their homes. A rewarding and educational experience as part of my new graduate program where I received clinical supervision and regular education from the wound CNC.
Working as a live in nanny and farm hand for 3 months during the busy harvest and sowing period to support a farming family as they welcomed their second baby.
