Work History

Casual

The Illawarra Hotel
12.2021 - Current
  • Work long hours each week, often late at night
  • Very fast paced work environment
  • Dealing with a very wide range of patrons, often in various states, (even if not intoxicated, patrons can often be agitated or upset and require special care when dealing with them)
  • This has been my primary source of income for the past 3 years
  • In 2023, I helped organise and run a workshop with the not-for-profit suicide-prevention organisation Talk2MeBro for the staff of the Illawarra Hotel. This is how I first began working in the organisation.
  • In 2024, I received an award from the management team for excellence in community support

The Shellharbour Club
09.2021 - 12.2021
  • Worked in a range of roles including bartender, wait staff, gaming, and general cleaner
  • Upper-class functions were a regular occurrence at the club, and I would often cater to these functions as bartender or waiter
  • During these engagements I developed even more experience in dealing with customers with constant, unwavering professional etiquette
  • Worked a full range of hours including back – to – back night close shifts from 7 pm to 5 am

MARS Petcare
01.2020 - 09.2020
  • Worked as a casual factory line worker
  • I regularly worked 8- and 12-hour shifts including night shifts 11pm – 7am
  • At MARS casuals were required to comply with all safety measures in place inside the factory, we worked in teams that rotated between positions on the factory line
  • It was a necessity that casuals at the MARS factory were continuously focused, hard-working, and conducted themselves in a safe and responsible manner at all times

Casual

Kmart Bathurst
10.2020 - 01.2021
  • As a part of the original Target Bathurst team, my role in the store changed significantly when the store transferred to Kmart
  • We hired many new team members and whilst Kmart differed from Target as a retail store in significant ways, it was still important that I helped guide many new team members through their new roles as part of the team
  • Worked stock, sequencing additional products onto the floor throughout the day and ensuring departments were properly filled
  • Worked registers, serving customers as they checkout
  • Worked as part of the decant team
  • My role on the decant team changed with the transfer to Kmart, often I would oversee the decant team as facilitator and it was my responsibility that everything was done correctly and efficiently and that the decant was completed on time
  • Worked as Customer liaison, greeting customers into the store
  • I would direct customers in the direction of various departments, as well being the first to answer calls to the store which I would then direct to whichever department the customer was inquiring for
  • It was also my responsibility to politely check customers bags as they left the store
  • Worked downstairs in overstocks, sorting extra stock into its allocated area
