- Company Overview: In my current role at DSM, I work within a nutritional plant producing, coating and packing Vitamin C
- I work within a 6-man team, rotating between 3 different areas
- Following good manufacturing practices, adhering to quality standards with regards to PPE, insuring CCP'S are maintained and ensuring product specifications are met through sample analysis
- Monitor, control and manage processes from the control room using the DCS system to ensure key operating parameters remain within the defined operating window
- Carrying out controlled start up and shutdown of plant equipment when required
- Operating counterbalance forklift trucks along with pallet truck
- Carrying out shift handovers, raising notifications to request maintenance, adding entries to shift connector log and batch tracking system
- Inspect equipment in the field to ensure it is working accurately according to specified operating parameters - leaks, pressure temperature, levels, pressures etc
- Inspecting the equipment - pumps, fittings, safety devices, valves etc
- Ensuring they are in good working order
- Creating PTW permits from scratch and handing them out
- Executing Lototo isolations to prepare for maintenance tasks and de-isolated them once maintenance is Complete
- Carry out repairs and frontline maintenance; changing gaskets, filters, minor maintenance, splitting flanges, changing valves etc
- Adhering to COSHH guidelines
- Clean process equipment and plant as required
- Charging of raw materials
- Monitor laboratory and other relevant process related results
- Take appropriate action to ensure that products and intermediates meet specifications
- Conduct specified laboratory tasks, analysing, recording, and interpreting results
- Take appropriate action where appropriate to communicate any improvement suggestions to technical team

- Company Overview: In my previous role I worked Monday to Friday day shift on plant shadowing an operator to learn different areas across the DSM, Dalry site within the vitamin C plant, Vitamin B plant and wastewater treatment plant
- I worked within the Vitamin C packing room commissioning team for 6 months before moving onto working within in it full time once commissioning had been completed
- I gathered practical evidence working to achieve my SVQ qualification alongside working studying theoretical knowledge to complete my City and Guilds qualification through college to progress and complete my apprenticeship
- In the final year of my apprenticeship, I moved onto shift work in one final area working 12 hour early and night shifts
