- Worked as the high ropes director at an American Summer camp in Washington state. Job involved full accountability and responsibility for the safety of children. Risk mitigation and educating children about high ropes equipment and facilitating the use of the high ropes course, challenge course and zip line. I supervised and instructed boys and girls of the ages 7-17 on how to complete our challenge course and high ropes course. The challenge course at the camp is a low ropes/grounded course designed for children to learn how to safely explore what they are capable of and pushing past their comfort zones into a space of learning. The high ropes and zip line was constructed above ground and in the high trees, which is where i would be stationed to clip on the children to the zip line.
- During the night time i was a children cabin counsellor, which involved supervising and leading children through afternoon activities and their bedtime routine.
- Skills learnt from this experience include strong leadership skills, communication, working with children of different ages, assessing risks, working effectively with the other staff, facilitating the high ropes course safely.
- Fostered a positive environment for campers by promoting inclusivity, respect, and enthusiasm in all interactions.
- Assisted in planning special events like talent shows, field trips or themed days that added variety to the camp schedule while promoting camaraderie among participants.
- Led groups of children safely through variety of camp activities such as overnight hikes and camping.
