I have been a sports enthusiast all my life. As a young man, I played tennis and soccer, but my true love has always been cricket. I achieved a semi-professional level in soccer, playing for Adelaide Croatia (now Adelaide Raiders) in the mid 80s, before retiring to focus on my education. After leaving university and beginning work in an indoor cricket arena, I developed a proficiency in the game and represented South Australia at the national titles in both 1987 and 1988. I played outdoor cricket until retiring in my early 40s.
In retirement, I have coached many junior sporting teams, including my stepsons primary school football team at St David's as well as junior soccer teams at Tea Tree Gully Soccer Club. I completed the required courses and police clearances to undertake these roles.
With the spare time afforded to me whilst caring for my mother, I dabbled in writing a manuscript (sadly unpublished) but this opened a few small doors and I have done some minor copywriting, including articles for ASICS catalogues and a prominent gaming website.
I currently play tennis actively with my son as well as help with his coaching.
Throughout my sporting career, I have had many leadership roles, including successfully coaching and captaining United Districts Cricket Club to successive premierships. These roles have helped me become an articulate and well spoken individual who is comfortable in any environment including public speaking.
