Summary

Having spent the last 20 years working with and walking alongside Aboriginal clients and community members in rural and remote regions of Western Australia and the Northern Territory. I have a proven capacity to effectively lead, execute and coordinate complex projects and though the application of culturally responsive engagement techniques and have been responsible for the collaborative development of place based content for organisations with national reach. I am a passionate advocate for coordinated, considered and accessible suicide prevention and postvention services and have a comprehensive and intimate understanding of the grieving process and its impact across a variety of cultural settings.

  • Managed the extensive and complex stakeholders ‘on the ground’ in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions to ensure the ongoing connectivity of the project.
  • Ensured that all Beyond Blue led activities are mindful of, observing and adhering to the cultural protocols that are required to be maintained when conducting culturally responsive interactions.
  • Ensured sustainable SEWB understanding and practice in learning communities by assisting and supporting service delivery partners (SDP) to unpack Be You modules and associated resources, to confidently deliver content by the modality that resonates most strongly with target demographic.
  • Led the development of the project's transition model, its framework and an agreed process with invested stakeholders, headspace support in schools staff and the SDP’s.
  • Provided the primary point of contact between SDP's, headspace support in schools and the lead school psychologists to ensure a coordinated, wholistic, culturally responsive and structured postvention support service is made available to impacted schools and communities.
  • Implemented actions to mitigate risk by developing informed contingency and avoidance strategies.
  • Maintained tactical control of project budgets and timelines to keep teams on task and achieving project milestones and meeting all DoH deliverables as per contractual arrangement.

StandBy Suicide Response Coordinator

  • Coordinated postvention response to impacted families, friends and first responders post suicide, with various government and service agencies to enable a timely and culturally informed and personable response.
  • Provide tailored training opportunities concerning suicide awareness and postvention to individuals, workplace and community groups region wide.
  • Enable 24/7 access to support either via telephone or face to face adopting individualised, holistic, throughcare support plans within a culturally safe environment.
  • Provided support for people bereaved by suicide through an integrated, comprehensive and responsive support system within identified community regions.
  • Increase the sustainable capacity of communities to effectively respond to critical incidents and better support those bereaved by suicide.
  • Enhance the reputation of the StandBy Response Service in partnership with key stakeholders and peak bodies across the Kimberley and Pilbara.
