Since working with Sicada I’ve gained many skills related to the fire industry. I went from electrical to the fire to further my experience and in this time I’ve achieved that. Listed below are some of the keys skills I have acquired:

  • Conducted Preventive Maintenance testing on Fire Pumps, Sprinkler Systems, Hydrants, Hose Reels, Fire Detection Systems and Gas Systems.
  • Installed/replaced fire indication panels and programming experience.

In this time working for Clancy Corp I have planned, organized and been involved in multiple projects throughout the mine sites in and around Mount isa. This involved preparing JSEA's, materials and over looking/supervising other workers to complete specific tasks as well as testing and commissioning all jobs I have been apart of. From being in this role as a Leading hand and an Electrical Tradesman I have learnt to work under pressure in short time frames, being efficient, clean and executing jobs safely.

listed below are jobs/tasks I've completed:

  • Industrial, commercial and domestic works
  • Planned and Completed over 10 Rain Monitoring Stations for Environmental drainage ponds. This included the installation of cable ladder/supports, installing cables and fitting of SWA glands. Also completing variations to suit certain facilities involving control wiring and circuit diagram drawings.
  • Working with engineers to install over head cable ladders using EWP's and designing supports adequate for the locations.
  • Cable tray replacements and installs in the Lead Concentrator at the Float Banks for over one month. While completing this task I was required to wear a full face respirator and correct PPE as a safety precaution.
  • Used an EWP to install over head 415V power cables supported by 6mm catenary for a length of 25m.
  • Installed Earth Backbones in harsh environments such as the Lead Smelter and above the Charge cars for the Lead Smelter
  • Installing new earthing systems for mine sites involving backbones, bonding and main earths.
  • Fault Finding Electrical Equipment including VSD's, PLC's and Control systems
  • Preparing risk assessments and implementing control measures to safely complete jobs
  • Writing up quotes in accordance to customers requests.
  • Worked Labour Hire for Lead Mines, Acid Plant, Copper Mines, Chemical Lab and Site Services
  • Over night out of town works
  • Testing Ergon depot earthing systems
  • Completed works in explosive plants such as Auger motor replacements , RCD testing, switchboard upgrades and other preventive Maintenance jobs.

I've worked away from home on multiple occasions sometimes up to 2-3 weeks as required. My previous employer contracted for Cook Shire Council and the Queensland Government Health both requiring our assistance all over the top end of Queensland.
