Jake Potter

Jake Potter is a psychotherapist in Melbourne, Australia. He is an ACA accredited Clinical Supervisor and Associate Lecturer in the School of Counselling & Psychotherapy at the Ikon Institute, Australia. Jake is the 2020 National Award Winner of the Dr Rafael Locke Award for Clinical & Academic Excellence in the practice of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Ikon Institute). He is a National Redress Counselling and Psychological Care (CPC) Provider. Jake is a member of the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI). He is a trained Adult Attachment Repair Therapist and holds professional memberships with PACFA (No. 8867) and ACA (No. 16925). Jake has also guest lectured at New York University and RMIT on topics such as agency and the body. Jake is also the Founder and Clinical Director of the Australian Centre for Embodied Practice.

Like my therapeutic work, I have a great love for life and my close relationships. My greatest of pleasures is spending time with my 9-month old baby Theodore and my partner whereby we have emphasize cultivating positive attachment bonds and a nurturing environment for him to develop within. Also of great joy, we own a small hut in the back of Apollo Bay situated on roughly 50 acres of land whereby we have implemented a Landcare Management Plan that has developed a dual-zoned area aimed at regeneration and conservation of the natural habitat. This has always aligned with a value of mine that caring for ourselves and each other is as important as caring for the environment in which we live our fulfilling lives.
