James Fletcher Cover Letter
Greetings. I hope you are well.
I have included this cover letter to define my current role with Morgan Stanley and why I believe that I am a strong candidate for this position.
In my current role with Morgan Stanley, I am the operations supervisor, looking after several floors at Chifley Square.
It is my responsibility to supervise a core team of full-time floor staff who attend to daily meetings and events, as well as to organise agency staff for any foreseeable gaps in service, as we often run formal, canape, cocktail and other large-scale events which require additional staffing.
I supervise the office full time Monday to Friday and look after a multitude of administrative tasks for the building's safety and for other office related tasks concerning all Morgan Stanley staff and visitors.
It is an important part of my role to know inside and out the varying teams within the company structure and to be able to communicate with them. This pays dividends when troubleshooting a multitude of differing requests. Whether it be related to facilities or to catering.
I have complete access to the site which includes the executive kitchen which I also look after.
It is my responsibility to organise catering for the board and for executive meetings, as well as make sure the event spaces are organized down to every detail, including organising AV connectivity and room set-up requirements.
I have proven my ability to organize catering with vendors and have developed great relationships with the managers of several local businesses, such as the Avenue at Chifley or CBD Patisserie.
My fondest memories of working here will be the fundamental working relationships that have developed over the past 2 years. These have contributed towards a successful and well-run business.
I work well within a team, yet I am also strong at taking initiative and getting things done. I am confidently able to take instruction as well as to delegate.
I am flexible with my hours and have great time management skills as well as an aptitude for multitasking.
I use a variety of programs, systems and spreadsheets such as excel for my role which have given me a sound knowledge of computers and I am a fast learner when it comes to learning the preferred company software.
I genuinely believe that my 6 years of working in administrative roles combined with my 17 years of experience within the hospitality industry would put me in great stead for this position.
This position would be a great career progression for me, and I would love the opportunity to speak with you further about the role.
Thank you for your time,
Kind regards,
James Fletcher

Suncorp Head Offices: 2019=2021
AGL SYD head office – EY building, 200 George St, SYD 2000
Prior to my current position at AGL, I was based at the Suncorp head office
in Barangaroo. I developed comfortably in this corporate setting and learnt
many skills during my time there, which have carried over into my role at
AGL. I was part of a small team that looked after the executive team as well
as the board. I became confident in my engagement with the constant
events scheduled for these teams as I would predominantly look after their
catering and event.
I also was responsible for many differing administrative tasks some of
which I have listed below.
My responsibilities included: Mail Management, Locker Management,
allocation and access for the employees, and Meeting Room/Event
Management, including coordinating meeting rooms, booking vendors (if
required) and room setups.
I have been able to explore my skills through working in many various departments, hotels, and events during my time at the company and I have been continuously networking and refining my people skills.
Predominantly I have spent my time with Accor working in events and hospitality at Sofitel Wentworth.
I have also been trusted with positions that require me to work alone as well as in a team, both of which I am comfortable doing, due to the trust of my employers and also through training.
I was often required to manage a bar for functions and weddings well as cocktail parties which entailed making a variety of drinks including cocktails and counting stock as well as ordering up stock for upcoming events. I was regularly required to partake in first-class food
service for small exclusive events as well as large scale corporate events, cocktail parties, and weddings.
Throughout my time at Merivale, I was also required to be adept at using a coffee machine confidently and presenting coffee to clients that were up to
speed at a barista level.
I was given the opportunity of been part of a close-knit team working in the Penthouse at Ivy which helped me gain the confidence of building rapport amongst all sorts of V.I.P. clientele, whilst continuing to learn an increased
knowledge of spirits and cocktails.
