Since being employed at DCJ housing, I have expanded my knowledge within the industry and would love the opportunity to continue my growth as a Community Engagement Officer. I am a high performing Client Service officer who is always striving for the best outcomes for my clients. I have strong verbal communication skills and am confident in liaising with co-workers and consumers to achieve optimal outcomes. Experience through study and work has been pivotal in developing new skills and has expanded my self-reflection and self-awareness to seek new opportunities that I am passionate about. I am confident in my ability to adapt in new environments and am a fast-paced learner. I pride myself on attention to detail and endeavor to be diligent in completing tasks thoroughly and effectively. Within the workplace and throughout my study, I have demonstrated exceptional time management skills with tasks required of me. I am looking to follow through with my aspirations and to continue my career within the department of communities and justice which is something I have been passionate about since a young age. I believe I have the personal skills and qualities to fit this role. I am 22 years old and am steadily learning more about my aboriginal culture. During high school I would participate in cultural dances on harmony and diversity day and regularly attend the Aboriginal Reference Group meetings held at work. I would like to break down the barrier between the aboriginal community and society and I believe that a role in the department of communities and justice is a great opportunity for me to do this.

Client Service Officer

  • I have currently been employed as a client service officer in the Mount Druitt and parramatta housing office since June 26th 2023. During this time, I have gone through extensive training both online, using thrive learning, and in person at the mandatory 2-week induction. This training provided me with an in-depth perspective of what my role as a CSO would entail. It has been 7 months that I have been with DCJ housing now and my knowledge within the industry is continuing to grow every day. I am constantly engaging with the community and representing DCJ with a professional manner when doing so. I am now familiar with all technology and applications required of a CSO and am ready to expand this knowledge as a SCSO. Working as a Client Service Officer has allowed me to adapt to a more professional manner, which I take pride in. It has given me the opportunity to use my strongest skills such as communication, confidence and adapting. I understand the importance of maintaining and securing clients information and am passionate about assisting them with their needs. I intend to continue working here and pursuing a career at DCJ.
  • Throughout my time in the department, I have been given multiple opportunities to act up as a Senior Client Service Officer. These have provided me with a great opportunity to experience a senior role and further develop my skill set. I was required to perform tasks that were unfamiliar to me such as, roster planning, delegating work, team management, and representing Homes NSW at NCAT. I was very grateful for the opportunity and felt that I learnt as much as possible in the brief time I was there. I enjoyed the workload and was able to share my knowledge with other CSO’s and assist them with any struggles or questions. I also received positive feedback from the team leader, and seniors of the team I was acting in.

  • Working at Vaccaro group has allowed me to develop more practical skills and has given me more confidence to complete tasks promptly and on my own. My day-to-day activities include driving to different job sites every day and installing split system and ducted system air conditioners. Most days I was working as part of a team both as a leader or under someone’s authority. I was often given the role to train and increase the skill set of new apprentices with a welcoming manner. I really enjoyed teaching them new things and felt satisfied when they were succeeding. This job has improved my work ethic, punctuality and leadership skills.

Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre

  • My roles at the aquatic park centre included taking charge of swimming lessons for younger kids, admin duties and lifeguarding. During every one of my shifts, I was interacting with customers and providing them with a welcoming and confident attitude. I really enjoyed interacting with customers and helping them out in any way I could. Problems would often arise with customers coming in on the wrong day or wrong time slot, this would require me to solve it by finding vacancies that would suit the customer. This job allowed me to really develop key skills that are some of my strongest qualities now, such as patience, communication and working as part of a team.

  • In my time at the fruit market, I had multiple roles which included dealing with customer service out the front and working on my own or in a group to manage quality control of the product and packaging it. There were multiple shifts where I was trusted on my own to do this process and to complete it on a time limit. With this being my first job, it gave me a responsibility and assisted me to grow my time management skills starting early on weekends.
