Finance Broker

24HoursAssist/Car Coop
01.2019 - 11.2019
  • Company Overview: 24HoursAssist is a finance company which offers alternative finance direct to consumers for car purchases/refinances.
  • I started there at the start of the year in a finance broker role, which was commission based. Throughout my time there I learnt a lot about sales/customer service as I was juggling 20-50 customers per week and assisting them with their loan applications as well as helping look for cars, organise insurance, etc. As the business was a recently formed business that was running out of my boss’ home, we had limited staff and therefore I was working quite a significant amount on not only my position but also expanding the business/marketing. This position taught me a lot and was a good starting point for me into the finance industry as that is the industry, I see myself working towards in the future. It was a great opportunity for me and I took the most of it, although I learned and decided that I would need to do some tertiary education if it was an industry, I wanted to progress in. Being a small up and coming business I was not required to have a degree; however, I always knew at some point I would have to leave so I can complete a degree in business/financial planning. I have since enrolled into a bachelor of business with a major in financial planning which I commence on the 4th of November. 24HoursAssist really wanted me to stay as I had been a big part of the beginning of the business and I was really upset that I was leaving, however I had a long think about it and I would rather complete a degree sooner rather than later. The opportunity I had at 24HoursAssist, I will forever be grateful for as it helped me to mature and work in a finance/business setting with a lot more confidence and belief in myself.

Teller

Nab
01.2018 - 10.2018
  • I started at Nab around the start of the year as a teller in the Werribee branch, as they were my host while I was completing my business certificate. Nab was a very good experience for myself and it taught me many things that can be used and applied in all future positions. Time management is one of the main things that I improved on while at Nab as we had our customers to serve, as well as other tasks to get done during the day such as assisting the head office with enquiries, replying to emails from the direct team regarding customers that need to get into contact with our branch etc. At Nab I also worked on my relationship building skills a lot as I was serving and conversing with customers throughout most of the day. Unfortunately, due to some health issues that kept me out for a few months I wasn’t able to work there the full year however I still am grateful for the experience I gained there and all of the friends and mentors I had along the way.

3rd Party Containers
07.2016 - 06.2017
  • Third Party Containers taught me a lot about responsibility as well as being flexible and able to adapt to changes or problems that may arise in the workplace. The company itself is basically doing labour jobs such as emptying containers, stacking pallets, setting up orders to be shipped and some other tasks at various warehouses around the Truganina - Laverton north area as this was my zone. Working at 3pc was eye opening as it was the first job where things could and did change every day and as the crew at each warehouse doesn’t work for that specific company, we needed to be able to solve every problem that arose and get the job done for the day.

Warehouse Inventory Team

Complete Office Supplies
01.2016 - 05.2016
  • COS (Complete Office Supplies) was a good learning experience for me, as it taught me skills that are valuable and required, in many areas of the workforce. The skill, I developed the most is my ability to solve problems that arose in the workplace. Being in charge of troubleshooting issues that arose regarding the inventory on hand, helped massively in changing my thinking from a 'what do I do?' mindset, to an 'I am going to work out what has to be done and how to do it!’ attitude. As well as problem solving, I also developed my ability to work in a team, as well as being able to work independently.
  • Other skills acquired whilst employed at COS include:
  • Communicating clearly, positively and professionally with co-workers, management and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Time management – being able to manage my working time efficiently.
  • Working in high volume fast paced environment.
  • Complaint resolution – promptly and professionally resolving customer complaints.
  • Seeking extra tasks when all scheduled duties had been completed.

Crew Member

McDonalds
03.2012 - 01.2016
  • Working at McDonalds for 3 years during high school, taught me many valuable skills that will help me with any job I move into in the future.
  • Some of these include:
  • Communicating clearly and positively with co-workers, management and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Time management - Identifying preparation times of all products, and using these times to determine how long tasks will take to complete.
  • Maintaining high levels of quality in assembling the products, during high volume fast paced operations.
  • Resolving complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Finding extra tasks when all scheduled duties were completed.
  • McDonalds gave me the opportunity to learn to work with others constantly, which is something I have really enjoyed. Working with a team, in a fast-paced environment that requires an organised crew, with attention to detail and quality control for three years has allowed me to become a better team orientated worker and has increased my skills and knowledge in many areas.
