As a Registered Nurse I am able to practice and provide a high level of nursing care that is consistent with the scientific practices and principles and bound by current health policies and within my scope of practice. My scope of nursing practice is underpinned by the principles of fairness, equality, accessibility and relevance, cost effectiveness to the health service and consumer, appropriate use of technology and the integration of primary health care and tertiary emergency care to provide positive health outcomes and community engagement, that allows and enhances capacity building and ownership by all stake holders. I adhere to the first Domain of Professional Practice, which relates to the professional, legal and ethical responsibilities, accountability and adherence to function in accordance with relevant legislation i.e. Poisons Act 1964, Poisons Regulation, 1965, Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2010 and the Codes of Conduct/ Standards of Practice set out by the NMBA. I interact well with people from diverse cultures by being professional, approachable, non- judgemental, empathetic and by being culturally safe and observing cultural boundaries. I display effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. I am resourceful, able to think laterally and professionally with well-developed problem solving and negotiation skills. In my role as a Level One Registered Nurse I am aware of my scope of practice and acknowledge the deficits I may have by consistently seeking further professional development, guidance and support within the current acute setting in which I am employed.
