I started with Custom steel fab in april 2023 as a contractor for Mount isa mines at the copper concentrator for breakdown crew for 9 months on a 7/7 roster. In january 2024 i changed from breakdown crew to planned maintenance and currently in my 2nd year working on the crew for this department on a 3/1 roster. My duties for these roles include:

• Maintaining a clean work environment by following established housekeeping procedures, reducing hazards and ensuring worker safety.
• Increased productivity with the timely replacement of worn parts and maintaining optimal machine conditions.
• Provided reliable support for emergency breakdowns, minimizing production delays and losses due to unplanned downtime.
• Displayed strong problem-solving skills by swiftly identifying and implementing solutions to address mechanical malfunctions or breakdowns.
• Contributed to project completion by assembling, fitting, and aligning complex mechanical components accurately.
• Documented all completed jobs meticulously in accordance with company policies to ensure accurate record-keeping for future reference or audits purposes.

• 12 hour rotating day and night shift roster
• Preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance and service to all plant and machinery, including hydraulic pushers and systems, screen systems, valve replacements, collecting and recording data from turbines, pump overhauls, pump installations, pump alignments, conveyers, belts and pulley systems
• Working in an independent and team environment with the primary responsibility of ensuring sustained operations of the mill
• Completing daily and weekly preventative maintenance checks
• Construction and knowledge of JSA, take 5's, and isolation requirements
• High torque and high RPM machine work
• General workshop fabrication and machining parts
• Fire warden & Emergency management training (deputy chief Fire warden on shift)

• Overhaul, assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of complex machinery and mechanisms such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, pneumatic actuators, blowers, diesel power water pumps, mixers, conveyor belt assemblies, step screens, drum screens, belt presses, clarifiers and micro strainer filters
• Setting up and adjusting metal working equipment and machinery
• Operating metal lathe and milling machine to manufacture different parts and tools
• Examined detailed engineering drawings to assess the job, material, and equipment requirements
• Create own detailed drawings in preparation for manufacturing parts
• Use specialised measuring equipment to ensure accuracy of the jobs
• Fixed plant maintenance at several waste water treatment plants and pump stations

• Maintained workplace and understanding of good hygiene practises
• Served customers and made / received phone calls and orders
• Prepared specific cuts of meat
• Cutting/trimming bodies of beef, lamb, and chicken
• Receiving and storing products in accordance with health and safety standards and regulations
