I have a son who I raised alone from 2yo I moved back SA when he was 4yo and move to Laura to be near my parents in Pirie at 10 he wanted to move to his mothers in Melbourne.He went to hers most school holidays and enjoyed himself but after 12 months wanted to come back to me I was working on The Barcoo outlet pipe work in Adelaide living in pub in Port Adelaide I thought my full time dad days where over, I moved back to Port Pirie which I had said I would never live there again but I knew my childhood home would be the best outcome for my lad a place where he could return after 50 years and still see people he went to school with plus my parents were getting older and I would be help them a little to repay all the kindness they showed me. My son was very close to his grandparents he went to same Primary school I did at 13 years he joined the Air force cadets and rose to rank of Flight Sergeant On leaving school not happy He joined The ADF(Army) at 17 My dad was that proud I learnt so much about my Father over his last ten years what wonderful man he was as a teenager I didn't understand So Pirie good for me but now my folks are passed its not the same.Koolunga now holds my heart my dad's mate had the pub in fifties he spend a lot of time here plus mum would take nanna and I
