Work History

Ambulance Paramedic (ALS)

Metropoliton Ambulance (MAS) / Ambulance Victoria
Richmond, VIC
10.2008 - Current
  • Based in Richmond, which was a training branch, I was one of the senior Clinical Instructors responsible for the training and well being of the new graduates entering their careers.
  • Richmond branch had a great cross section of ambulance work with a mix of busy city work and suburb work.
  • After working in Richmond for 5 years, I transferred to Geelong, based at the Belmont branch for 12 years, then the Torquay branch for 18 months before accepting an appointed Team Manager position at the Charlton branch in the Loddon Mallee.
  • In Geelong I fulfilled the roles of Paramedic Educator, Team Manager, Health & Safety Representative, Union Delegate, Health Commander and Infield STM.

Ambulance Paramedic (ALS)

Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV)
01.2005 - 10.2008
  • Based in Maryborough, central western Victoria, working at a busy ‘on call’ branch providing first line medical treatment in a rural community.
  • Working in an isolated community really consolidated my skills as a Paramedic due to the autonomous nature of having minimal or no back up available and the extended patient contact time gave me a greater understanding of really seeing how our care can make a difference.
  • Acting as Team Manger at Maryborough also allowed me to engage with the community on numerous projects to help better serve the community.
  • Reasons for leaving :
  • To be closer to my partner (now wife).

Ambulance Paramedic (ALS)

Ambulance Service of New South Wales
06.2001 - 12.2004
  • After completing my training in Sydney’s inner western suburbs I was permanently based at the Sydney Ambulance Centre (SAC) in Redfern.
  • As a Paramedic I was responsible for the provision of medical care to the sick and or injured people before they reach hospital.
  • In order for me to do this I can sometimes utilise resources such as the Ambulance / Police Rescue, Police, other ambulances or helicopters.
  • As a Paramedic it is imperative for me to assess a situation quickly and decide what resources we require to help treat our patients.
  • We are required to respond to 000 emergency calls throughout the day or night and also routine non emergency medical transportation that has been prior booked by a local or registered medical officer.
  • Other duties include vehicle equipment and maintenance checks and station duties.
  • Reasons for leaving :
  • To pursue a career with Rural Ambulance Victoria.
