As a General Practice Registered Nurse my role includes:

-Childhood required Immunisation’s + check up’s

Communicating and working effectively with Medical Sales Representatives, The multidisciplinary team and patients at all times.

- The ability to work Autonomously aswell as effectively part of a team.

- Wound Care

-Conducting Health Assessment’s

- Chronic Health Management

- Educating and communicating Health topics with patient’s.

- Travel Vaccination’s, Elderly Vaccines and all other IM / Sc Injections required to be administered.

- Assisting in minor procedures when necessary. These are Implanon insertion/ removal, IUD insertion/ Removal, Skin cancer biopsies/ removal, suturing.

- emergency patient’s that are brought to clinic from shopping centre.

- ECG, Spirometry assessments, MOCA, Geriatric depression scale and the Cognitive Assessments for over 65+ yrs.

- Logging use and delivery of surgical instruments.

- Cold Chain Trained.

As a vasectomy clinic nurse my role involves:

- Providing pre-operative counselling and care to patient’s. Providing Support and effective communication.

- Assist during the procedure one on one with the Dr.

- working closely with surgical Instruments. Counting / cleaning / sterilising all instruments.

- providing all needed equipment to the Dr performing the procedure.

- Working effectively in a fast paced and high stress environment. Ability to think fast and effectively whilst remaining calm.

- Ensuring the patient’s confidentiality and safety is maintained throughout the process.

• Experience working in diverse departments within the hospital. Specialties that have broadened my experience: Orthopedics, Neuroscience, Emergency and Aged Care.
• This experience has Improved my critical thinking skills to assess changes in patient conditions, recognize complications and intervene appropriately.

A Example of this is Monitoring vital signs, Performing A-G and head to toe assessments, Wound reviews and dressings as well as Interventions to maintain skin integrity. • I Developed advanced skills in patient assessment, preoperative and postoperative care, Pain assessments and management, promoting wound healing including wound observations, dressing changes, removal of drains post procedure as well as performing post operative Neurosvascular Assessments, A-G assessments and head to toes assessments.
• I Communicated efficiently and time effectively when working with cardiothoracic Theatres. Communicating Important Information regarding their patient, Performing assessments and pre-op checklists, Organizing the pre-shave and shower in Chlorhexidine body wash post shave, administering the charted pre -medication prior to transfer to the holding bay and applying Oxygen. Performing Pre-surgical ECGs.
• Administered medications to patients. PCA management. I monitored for reactions or side Effects. I documented these correctly on EMR or paper charts and communicated any problems that arose with the In Charge Nurse and members of the multidisciplinary Team.
• Followed infection control procedures and standards. I adhered to the correct PPE needed.
• Referred patients to specialized health resources and community agencies for further assistance.

• Monitored vital signs and performed respiratory swabs on presenting patient's to the COVID -19 Clinic. Performed A-G Assessments on patients during visits.
• Treated patients en route to Emergency when they experienced worsening symptoms related to COVID-19 that received review by the multidisciplinary team for acute treatment.
• Managed Inventory levels of medical supplies within the clinic setting.
