Senior Registered Nurse with extensive 30 Years experience and 20 years experience as a Branch Official for the NSWNMA. I have worked in a wide range of different roles as per my resume.

I have had numerous Nursing rolls working shift work in Critical Care (Liverpool Hospital CCU) right up to Education and Chronic Disease management roles working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade II for Heart Failure at Fairfield Hospital.

I’ve been a NSWNMA Branch Official for close to 20 years occupying the roles of Senior Branch officials including Delegate of Liverpool Hospital Branch, Branch Secretary and Delegate of Fairfield Hospital Branch, Branch Secretary of Nepean Blue Mountains Community Health Branch and Branch Secretary and Alternate Delegate of Western Sydney Community Nurses Branch. I always put my hand up for senior Branch Official Roles as I enjoy the work immensely due to being extremely passionate about furthering the industrial interests rights and WH&S standards of Nursing and Midwifery as a profession and standing up for my fellow colleagues.

Registered Nurse (Out of Hospital Care Team)

  • Registered Nurse in Integrated and Community Health working for various teams as the Model of Care is constantly evolving (Connecting Care, Integrated Care for People with Chronic Conditions, In-Touch, Planned Care for Better Health and now Out of Hospital Care) Working to better the health outcomes, reduce hospital admissions and improve self-management for Patients suffering from chronic illness. These positions involved community home visits, GP engagement and also office-based work.
  • NSWNMA Branch Secretary and Alternate Delegate of Western Sydney Community Nurses Branch. Once again, resurrecting this Branch from near extinction, identifying new Delegates and setting up a Branch Executive Team and have also increased their member numbers by networking across the Community Health Hubs they represent.
  • I have also taken part in many campaigns and public events such as Diwali at NSWNMA Stalls to raise public awareness of IR issues faced by NSW Nurses and Midwives.

  • I conducted research for better interventions in nursing practice, and was always implementing my practice reflecting on and in accordance with evidence based clinical research.
  • I collected data for Key Performance Indicators of my program to benefit my own practice and for reporting to the N.S.W. Department of Health.
  • This role required outstanding communication skills. On a daily basis, I communicated with Cardiologists, G.P's, other allied health workers, collegues and also patients and their families.
  • In-Services Attended and Presented:
  • I have provided various in-services/presentations on power point to new/current medical/nursing staff in Fairfield Hospital, Bankstown Hospital Community Health care facilities and various aged care facilities on topics in cardiology and introductory in-services about my role and what it involves. I have also given presentations to G.P.'s/Cardiologists on power point.
  • Branch Secretary and Delegate of Fairfield Hospital Branch of the NSWNMA overseeing the IR issues and WH&S Rights of many Nursing in Midwifery Staff in Fairfield Hospital, taking the minutes of Branch meetings. Meeting with Director of Nursing of Fairfield Hospital and advising her of issues identified in Branch meetings, regularly attending COD meetings and taking part in NSWNMA Campaigns at the time.

Senior Cardiology Registered Nurse

  • I was responsible for looking after patients with many chronic and complex cardiac diagnosis requiring intensive treatment and diagnostic procedures such as antiarrhythmic intravenous therapy, intravenous inotropic therapy, temporary pacing wires, intra-aortic balloon pumps, coronary angiogram and percutaneous coronary interventions, pre-coronary artery bypass graft work up, heart failure management and cardioversion.
  • I was accredited to cannulate, defibrillate and train other staff in defibrillation, CPR and basic life support.
  • I was a senior member of staff who was frequently in charge of the unit after hours.
  • I was unit preceptor for Nursing Students and New Graduate Registered Nurses and have also acted in the role as Clinical Nurse Educator. I have previous experience in preparing in-services for staff and educating patients/staff on the unit.
  • NSWNMA Liverpool Hospital Branch Delegate, advocating for Liverpool Hospital Staff Nurses and Midwives IR and WH&S rights, attending regular Branch meetings, working under the direction of the Branch Executive team and attending regular COD meetings at NSWNMA head office.

  • 4 months in Neurosurgical/Neuromedical Nursing. Where I experienced the opportunity to care for patients with major cerebral hemorrhages, CVA's, cerebral ischaemia, sub-dural haematomas, etc also cared for patients with tracheostomies and Nasogastric tubes and was responsible for tracheostomy care and insertion of NG tubes.
  • 5 months in Respiratory/Cardiology Nursing where I experienced the opportunity to work on the short stay ward consisting of seven beds of patients going for various procedures such as cardiac catheters, angioplasties, pacemaker insertions and EPS studies.
  • 3 months in Coronary Care Unit. Where I cared for patients with cardiomyopathy who were waiting for transplant assessments and were on inotropic infusions, patients with unstable angina, ischaemic heart disease and major myocardial infarctions.
