Transport patients between the wards and departments by walking escort, wheelchair, bed, or trolley in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.
Assist the nursing staff in the delivery of quality patient care. Work with the allocated nurse when attending to turning, lifting, bathing and showering patients, mobilisation of dependent patients.
Ensure that the patient handling is managed without harm to either the patient or the handlers by utilising correct patient handling techniques and appropriate aids.
Replace medical gas cylinders as requested in accordance to predetermined policies and procedures.
Move and erect traction frame equipment to the department/ward as required.
Be available to respond to emergencies such as fire, MET, trauma, code red, code yellow, code 7, aggressive patient calls and helicopter landings in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.
Assist clinic staff in the management of potentially aggressive patients. Carry out such duties according to the relevant policies and procedures.
Assist at cardiac arrest, and other emergencies to help re-position the patient to clear equipment.
Undertake messenger duties within the Health Service of patient related equipment, documents, specimens, blood products and other items as directed.
