Caring General Practitioner with 30+years experience across a broad range of patient presentations. Skills in minor procedures such as skin examinations and biopsies, joint aspiration and injections, Implanon insertion and removal, iron infusions and vaccinations. I also enjoy preventative health measures such as vaccinations, screening for osteoporosis, cancer and cardiovascular disease, as well as the holistic care of the elderly and those with multiple comorbidities.
I work here one evening each week and as needed to fill in staffing gaps. This is slightly different medicine to my booked patients at Ochre Augusta Road in that the presentations are usually urgent or semiurgent problems which require immediate triage and attention, and a different skill set to my everyday practice. I find it an interesting and stimulating addition to my usual job!
Currently working six sessions per week in this practice, seeing a wide range of patients from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, of all ages, as well as being the Primary Supervisor for a GPT1 General Practice Registrar.
I have also recently started working at the After Hours Doctor Service in Derwent Park, usually just one (4 hour) shift per week but also as needed to fill in staffing gaps on other evenings.
When Parkview Medical Practice amalgamated with this practice late in 2017, I moved with most of my colleagues to this larger practice, and enjoyed being part of the evolution of LMC into a cutting edge multidisciplinary medical hub which rapidly became a vital part of the Launceston community.
I gladly returned to this practice where I had completed my General Practice training in 1994, after a couple of years off to live overseas and then in South Australia where I had worked part-time while my husband completed Specialist Anaesthetic training and we had our children. This was a small but high quality practice which really valued teaching and peer support in the quest for the best clinical care of our patients, and really started the lifelong drive to maintain evidence based practice and high clinical standards.
