  • Full time position. Theatre: Anaesthetics/Recovery. As an anaesthetic nurse I learnt to be prepared in advance, learning all methods of intubation appropriate to the condition of the patient, the various considerations needed to purposefully help plan and prepare individual anaesthesia that would enable a smooth surgical procedure. EG: During my conversation whilst building patient repour attending to their pre-anaesthetic check list pre-op, I would ascertain their health concerns of EG. previous heart conditions and medical histories, and informing our anaesthesiest the reason for the upgrade from a 3 lead to a 5 lead ECG, and ensuring they were happy with same, a team approach. And if there were any identifying history potentials of our concerns that we would consider that would alter our approach, eg: asthma or diabetes, previous difficult airway. And appropriately prepare contingencies EG Ventolin puffers administration, difficult airway methods, plan A, plan B, plan C etc.. Planning for all contingencies that aimed to plan for adverse events and manage to enable best possible outcomes. Supporting the team whilst simultaneously advocating for the patient their understanding and valid consent. Educating the patient and clarifying of understanding with support and warm empathetic compassion. My development of patent repore became fast and effective, attending to the legal consent checks and ensuring all documentation was current and present, ensuring all paperwork accompanied the patient throughout their theatre journey. Ensuring good, clear, and accurate team approach to communication in a timely manor was achieved. My assurance in my presence with staff during pressuring and life threatening events was assured as my experienced actions presented naturally. I remain calm, think on my feet and buffer the panic seen and felt in the theatre or around me. Both working on elective lists and emergency theatres I am well adverse with every specialty: Awake Fiber-optic intubations, Rapid Sequence Inductions (RSI), difficult intubations, bronchoscopies, intervention radiology procedures, endoscopy, mult-traumas, major neurosurgery, vascular surgery ie) AAA’s, additionally paediatrics, obstetrics, general, orthopaedics, gynae, plastics and dentals.. from a 3 week old infant to elderly folk in there 90’s.
