Work History

Youth Justice; Child Safety; Townsville City Council

  • Case Management: Intake, visiting youth to assist with their needs while in the Centre, making phone calls for family connections to be placed on phone list. Also, sending out mail and delivering mail for the young people.
  • Completing data input for the assigned young people.
  • Access and input into the CYDS (Cleveland Youth Detention System) and ICMS (Integrated Client Management System) also Aurion Self Service and BeneStar.
  • Completion of My Learning for in-house Training within the Centre
  • Attend and complete observation forms in Behavioural Support, Scheduled meetings for assigned young people case managed.
  • Liaise with Cultural Support Officers, Behavioural Support Team, Transitional Officers and other Departments within the Centre to assist while young people are in the centre and to help in the transitioning out smoothly back into the community.
  • Liaise with Child Safety Officers assigned to individual young people’s cases.
  • Attend and support young person in a rostered videoconferencing of Regional Courts while waiting for outcome of sentencing.
  • Fill in Incident Reports and Medical Reports for young person to attend doctor’s appointments, dental appointments etc.
  • Complete end of Case Review with the assigned youth and with Stakeholders for Transition. Administrative tasks including responding to emails, phone calls
  • Represent Child Safety in TSCAG (Townsville Stronger Communities Action Group).
  • To liaise between Police, Education, Housing, DATSIP (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships) CYJMA, (Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs), Queensland Health to combat crime within the local city of Townsville.
  • Visiting with Education and Housing on home visits.
  • Complete on-line Training: My Learning
  • Supervision with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Practice Leader
  • Attend and have an input in Monthly TSCAG meetings
  • Give Cultural advice when needed within all departments within TSCAG.
  • Show support in TSCAG. (Townsville Stronger Communities Action Group).
  • Project manage the ‘STRETCH’ RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan)
  • Organise and deliver events internally and externally National Cultural Celebrations e.g. National Reconciliation Week, participate in NAIDOC Celebrations holding a Stall, Consultation on Indigenous Issues collaboratively with community members and organisations.
  • The ability to use Power Point, Publisher, Word Excel, and other software programs.
  • Access to TechOne CES (Central Entry System) software program in the Townsville City Council.
  • Plan and deliver Reconciliation Action Group Meetings- present and provide Attendance Sheets and Agenda Sheets, minute taking
  • Chair Reconciliation Action Group Meetings
  • Liaise with the Local Traditional Owners and surrounding Regions, Indigenous local community and the wider community.
  • Collaborate, Organise and Deliver intensive internal and external Cultural engagement activities.
  • Liaise with Indigenous Procurement incorporating their Services for cultural events.
  • Prepare an itemised budget for the Cultural event using Excel spreadsheets. Also prepare Project and Brief Reports.
  • Plan and organise/connect to Indigenous Organisation to participate in a Social Recovery Sub-Group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (flood recovery group) for the Townsville Monsoonal Weather in 2019.
  • Chairperson for the Social Recovery Sub-Group. Prepare and provide agenda and minutes.
  • Answering phone calls and enquires related to Sorry Business, Networking, etc. and responding to all e-mails.

  • Attend and represent and/or voice a cultural perspective on CCC- Co-Lab, Churches of Christ, Head Office, Kenmore. (12 weeks strategic planning)
  • Provide Cultural advice alongside cultural support to Case Workers when attending Home Visits where our Services operate and connect to.
  • Visit former Residential and SILS Houses on a fortnightly basis to build a rapport with the Young People. (cultural cooking, assisting with homework, provide spiritual guidance and prayer, women’s business issues, just yarning, etc.)
  • Complete documentation; Connection of Culture Scale, Cultural Strength Plans, Story-line Concept, Eco-Maps, monthly reports.
  • Further assistance into researching resources into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family History
  • Upload Eco-Maps, Connection to Culture Scales, Cultural Strength Plans etc. to KIDS System.
  • Work sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families, providing culturally inclusive services and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Elder and the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Complete individual tasks or work collaboratively within All CYF (Children, Youth, Family) teams.
  • Attend Fostering Team and FIS (Family Intervention Services) Team meetings, case consults and training.
  • Plan and deliver Cultural Storytime Session Bi-monthly (when available) for Fostering & Kinship Services.
  • Networking with Cultural Practice Advisors throughout Townsville and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Practice Lead for North Region of Townsville.
  • Complete on-line training: My Learning Portal, TCI Refreshers, Sanctuary, and Annual CMS Guides.
