Pen riding to assess animal health, pulling beasts for treatment, drafting, loading and unloading trucks, handling cattle in the holding pens & race and medicating cattle as per protocol’s.

Reception, admitting and discharging patients, preparing & monitoring patients for surgery, assisting in surgery and consults, cleaning and preparing surgery instruments for clinic and field visits, taking x-rays (digital)

Undertaking nurse consultations and assisting with equine & livestock field visits.

· Animal Care – Kennel duties including medicating in-patients

· Preparing surgery patients including administering pre-medications

· Assisting the veterinarian in surgery and consults

· Cleaning & sterilising instruments

· In field nursing of equine & livestock patients including assisting with C-sections, prolapsed cows and administering medications and treatments

· Livestock handling, moving small herds of cattle through the pens for pregnancy testing

· Shadowing the equine vet handling horses for all veterinary work including gastroscopes as well as swabbing horses post-race for the Geraldton Turf Club under strict RWWA guidelines

· Becoming proficient with all types of monitoring and diagnostic equipment that wasn’t available when I was a new nurse.

Greeting customers, interpret parts and source from suppliers

Receiving freight, entering invoices, completing end of month processes.
