Royal Hobart Hospital – General Medicine (6 weeks)

• Managed 4 patients effectively by building planners and working according to priorities.
• Administered medications: oral, subcutaneous, intravenous, S4 and S8.
• Performed vital signs, neurological obs, neurovascular obs, AWS, falls risk assessments, skin checks, BGL monitoring, ECGs, hygiene, PI care, manual handling, and helped develop comprehensive care plans
• Assisted with IDC insertion and removal, including 3-way bladder irrigation and monitoring
• Provided wound care and pressure injury management
• Recognised and responded to clinical deterioration such as sepsis, hypo- and hyperglycemia, delirium, and abnormal vital signs
• Documented all care accurately and gave clear handovers using ISBAR
• Experienced working with patients displaying behaviours of concern and applying de-escalation strategies
• Worked in a team nursing environment, collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team

Uniting AgeWell - Aged Care (3 weeks)

• Supported daily care, hygiene, mobility, and feeding
• Helped with manual handling, transfers, and skin checks
• Assisting with end-of-life and palliative care

THS - Community Mental Health (2 weeks)

• Joined mental health nurses on home visits
• Learned about therapeutic communication and client-centred care
