Work History

APS04 Project Officer

Australian Taxation Office
01.2023 - Current
  • During Program Increment Planning Meetings (PI)'s I have been one of the project officers involved in the planning process. These included but not limited to identifying risks and issues. The process involves a checklist that sets the basis of the work needed to achieve the required outcomes. I do this by creating a project scope (involves the approved and pre- approved projects), sending out correspondence to the various teams with a deadline. I also ask the teams to update their TFS Boards to reflect their most updated work ( Dashboards used to track work). From here I set up meetings with each representative of the teams and seek information whether the teams are still capable of doing the work and if not find possible solutions (ask various teams that can assist or see if we can put the project on hold until the next increment). When issues arise I can put the project on hold until the next increment). When issues arise I try and seek solutions to reduce the workload by looking at the Feature Allocation Tool to ensure that each team has the right amount of work and seek assistance when required. I was able to accomplish the projected outcomes build and sustain effective working relationships to negotiate team deliverables because when issues arise I find ways to resolve the blockers causing the problem.
  • When there are issues and blockers in a project I look at ways in which the agile principles can be utilised to meet the deadlines and encourage colleagues to use the processes and tools to our advantage. Having open communications with the various teams we are reducing project issues and mitigated risks. By looking at the possible challenges we are also improving project results in future Program Increments.
  • Being a Project Officer in the integration management space has given me the opportunity to develop and deepen my relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally within the Australian Taxation Office. (ATO) These relationships have been beneficial when working in various business lines as when work has strict deadlines I know my networks always have a solution to each situation.
  • When we have our retrospective we reflect on the different ways that various projects weer executed. I find ways to give constructive feedback on work and contribute to continuous improvement. These can be by giving feedback on processes and procedures . Checklists and tracking tools. I always ty to assist in resolving issues and monitoring outcomes.
  • Working on the ITAPS Branch Plan project has given me the opportunity to monitor deadlines by having weekly meetings and utlising online communications such as MS Teams, Email and internal messaging systems to ensure that everyone involved in the project is aware of the information that is needed and it is provided in a timely manner. Having a checklist or a tracking spreadsheet ensures that milestones are met the team is on track with the project schedule.
  • Every fortnight when we have status report meetings to our Senior Executive my team provides complex technical updates in regards to the testing space to various audiences.
  • In our daily standup meetings I try to create a positive team environment by finding creative ways to give my updates to the team. These can be interactive where I have team members names listed on a random picker or duck races. I try to coach others in line with agile frameworks by giving concise updates and ensure that time limits are always met.
