As a first year apprentice mechanical Fitter my job is too preventitive maintenance and reactive repairs to plant and equipment such as waste water and water treatment plants, sewerage pumping stations, waste transfer stations, chlorinated water disinfected sights, and council owned swimming pools. im required too use various power/ hand tools such as welders, plasma cutters, oxy ect.

  • Work with senior fitters to diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, reducing downtime significantly.
  • Completed precise measurements for accurate fitting and assembly, resulting in an increased production rate.
  • Demonstrated adaptability by quickly learning new processes, technologies, and equipment as industry trends evolved.
  • Participated in routine system checks and preventive maintenance activities to maintain optimal performance for all equipment
  • Applied problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and implement appropriate solutions effectively.
  • Gained expertise in various hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Acquired valuable hands-on experience in welding processes including MIG, TIG, stick welding.

Working part-time/ full-time in the job has given me many different experiences and skills.
Such as cash handling, working and talking with customers and hands-on work. My roll in this business was to replace car & machinery, house glass, tinting etc. Part of my time in this industry I also worked as a full-time manager where I controlled everything as the owner was on time off, the last 7 months of working as a manager I learned skills in arranging jobs, managing book work, ordering stock, making rosters and managing staff.
