As an authorised officer, my responsibilities included:
• Enforcing the Animal Welfare Act 1993, as well as other relevant animal welfare legislation and regulations.
• Conducting investigations and inspections; issuing instructions, infringement notices, warnings, and summonses.
• Educating the public, including schools, government and community groups, about relevant animal legislation and best practice animal care.

As part of Community Corrections, my role includes the following responsibilities:
• As a statutory officer, supervise a caseload of high risk offenders, complying with legislation & Department policy and procedures, using a participative case management model.
• Complete complex risk assessments to identify criminogenic risks and needs in order to help reduce the risk of further offending.
• Use research, investigation & analysis to complete & provide comprehensive pre-sentence and pre-release assessments to the courts, Parole Board & Commissioner of NTCS for the purposes of assessing suitability for supervision in the community and making recommendations as to appropriate conditions and monitoring requirements.
• Use a strengths based approach & culturally appropriate tools & resources to deliver individualised case management in an effort to motivate offenders to make pro-social choices and encourage positive behaviour change.
• Utilise contemporary tools such as electronic monitoring and COMMIT in individualised case management practice to monitor and enforce conditions of supervision.
• Identify and respond to non-compliance through timely investigation, gathering of evidence & preparation of breach reports to the relevant authority.
• Review assessments, reports and plans developed by other Probation and Parole Officers and provide feedback as appropriate.
• Travel to and work in regional and remote areas to undertake offender supervision.
As part of the Transit Safety Division of Victoria Police, my duties included :
• Patrolling peak-hour train services and maintaining a visible Police presence as well as engaging with the community.
• Building and maintaining rapport with commuters and the surrounding community to increase trust in the safety of the public transport system.
• Proactively patrol the train platform, car parks and surrounding area.
• Deal with anti-social behaviour, property damage, alcohol and transport-related offences as they arise through the use of tactical verbal communication, penalty notices, official warnings, charges, arrest and move on direction / banning notices.
