Whilst being a teacher, I was also the Head of Year 8 for 10 months before I left the profession. At this point in y career, I felt that I need new experiences with more opportunities and responsibilities to challenge myself in the education sector. During this role, I managed and worked with frequent data, solved problems that occurred inside and outside the classroom, and most importantly developed a whole new outlook to the behaviours of children. Students in my year group would come to me for advice and helping hand, in which I was always happy and eager to assist until solved. I had to make some challenging decisions in regards to choices made by my students and phone calls to parents and guardians to keep them informed of behaviour choices made by their child. This overtime, built a strong rapport in all areas. It was a very rewarding role as I got to know my year group on a deeper level than just in the classroom. Managing a year group has given me the confidence to progress in many areas and many transferable skills.
