I am a Military Veteran of 10 years in the Australian Army, that served on active duty. I was medically discharged in February 2008. I have a long history of psychological injuries that occurred whilst serving in the Army.
It was with these psychological injuries that saw me seek the help of many psychologists, 9 in total. These psychologists were unsuccessful in providing the care and treatment that I was after. It was in December 2019 that I was referred to an amazing psychologist, that provided the correct care and treatment and after numerous counseling sessions, I was able to return to the land of the living. It was in this period of time, where I noticed that there were so many psychologists and counsellors that required further training in the their field. I became interested in becoming a counsellor so that I can help others in their inability to manage their psychological injuries.
Due to my extensive personal experience with psychological injuries, I know exactly what a good psychologist/ Counsellor needs to have to address client's and their psychological injuries.
I also display an exceptional level of empathy towards every person that I encounter. I believe this is an obvious quality that I possess, as people feel extremely comfortable talking and confiding in myself with their issues.
With my own personal experience and the knowledge that I obtained in the counselling course, I have become a skilled counsellor. I have also established my own non-profit organisation called Soul Star Counselling where I provide counselling to any person that requires assistance outside of working hours. Yes, you can honestly say, I have a real passion to help people in any way that I can.
