Assistant Director: Being Assistant Director for over 7 years my job role and responsibilities have evolved to accommodate and address the requirements of the service. Roles and responsibilities:
- responsible to over see the day to day in charge operations in providing a safe and educational environment for all children, families and staff. In accordance with the national law and regulations and early education framework.
- to create and implement polices and procedures in accordance with the national law, with respect to socio cultural/political aspects, our diverse community, health and safety and emotional wellbeing of all stakeholders. Children's rights, Code of Ethics and staff wellbeing being the foundation of this.
- to professionally organise, manage and lead a team of 18 staff to implement a responsive and inclusive educational program. This including the use of partnerships and collaboration with families, carers and specialist professionals.
Alongside my role as Assistant Director, I am also the Educational Leader of the service. Educational Leader roles and responsibilities:
- continually reflecting, reviewing and adapting the service educational and observational program to include traditional theoretical perspectives alongside contemporary . This to therefore positively influence children's learning, interactions and holistic development.
- assessing and updating our service philosophy and educational curriculum in accordance with the diverse backgrounds of our families and each child's uniqueness and current and emerging abilities.
- to professionally lead and manage the team for them to successful recognise their value on scaffolding children's learning to include staff strengths and abilities.
- to create and maintain service action groups in committing to continually improve the service with response to the NQS. These include a STEM learning group, Be you Wellbeing and mental health group, Aboriginal Reconciliation Action Plan group, Physical activity group.
- to personally reflect on my own communication skills and interrelations with all staff, in understanding the importance of the role of the educational leader. In doing so, setting goals to build on pedagogical principles and practices of the Early Years Framework.
- learning new ways in which to observe, plan and display children's learning incorporating both the diversity of the children alongside respecting the natural world, land, plants and animals.
Room Leader roles and responsibilities:
- providing a safe ad caring environment for all children
- building and maintain professional relationships with all children, families and other staff members with respect to diversity and social cultural aspects.
-leading and managing a small team of educators, effectively communicating day to day duties. Assisting staff in making sure they are following service policies, procures and the necessary duty of care.
Sustainability Practitioner (coinciding with Educational Leader responsibilities).
- creating and continuously evolving our service sustainability pledge in accordance with the NQS and community needs.
- educating staff on their role in implementing sustainability through daily routines, transitions and outdoor play.
- critically reflecting on service policies and procedures in committing to the outdoors being recognised as an important place to grow, play , learn and develop.
- Examining and reviewing the outdoor environment and its ability to provide behavioural strategies and learning opportunities for all children
- collaborating with external professionals in safely making the outdoor natural environment a safe environment and inclusive to children and families with diverse needs.
- reviewing the service curriculum and planning opportunities and assessing the incorporation of outdoor learning and scaffolding opportunities.
Family Liaison and Communications Officer responsibilities:
-addressing communication requirements for the diversity of the service community, with respect to culture, languages, family background and disabilities
-adhering to national legislation and law in association to family court orders, parenting plans etc
- providing families and staff with wellbeing and support contacts
-dealing with conflict in a professional manner with respect to all parties involved
- addressing compliments, grievances and complaints and trying to resolve any issues in a professional code of conduct.
