  • Ensures the reliability and start-up capability of the Gas Turbine (GT), Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), Steam Generator (ST), Water Treatment Plant (WTP), Fuel Oil Treatment Plant (FOTP) and other plant auxiliaries.
  • Carries out Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine Pre-start up checks lists.
  • Initiates start-up and shutdown procedures for Gas Turbines (GT), Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and Steam Turbines (ST) and associated equipment and machines in coordination with the Control Room Operators and Senior Shift Engineer.
  • Handle and operates auxiliary equipments of the power plant for the efficient and
    reliable operation of the turbine and steam generator.
  • Supervise the unit's operating conditions using Electronic Gas Turbine Control System at the local control panel.
  • Operates equipment in the process of making Demineralized Water at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that is required for the steam/water cycle, and monitor the process and quality produced by the facility.
  • Handles the start-up/shutdown operation of Fuel Oil Treatment Plant (FOTP) in
    coordination with the control operators.
  • Initiates steps to correct any operation abnormalities and reports it to the Control
    Room Operators and inspect plant conditions that needs urgent attention through
    Work Order System.
  • Performs regular plant monitoring, accomplishment of relevant reports on
    operating log books/sheets and reports any observed hazards and plant abnormalities to the Control Room Operators.
  • Ensures the reliability of the Fire and Gas Protection System and its equipment
    that they are working properly and monitors the plant's operation at all times.
  • Assists the Shift Supervisor in isolating plant equipment and circuit breakers for
    the safety of other personnel as per standard procedure of “Permit to Work
    System” before doing a maintenance work.
  • Proper L.O.T.O. (Lock Out Tag Out) of affected equipment/breaker to ensure
    safe working environment inside the plant.
  • Rack-In/Out and local switching of High/Low Voltage circuit breakers and disconnect switches in coordination with Control Room Operator.
  • Set up and performs Gas Turbine/Compressor washing as directed by Senior Shift Engineer.
  • Chemical batching required by the Steam Turbine steam/water cycle.
  • Performs preservation measures on reserved shutdown units and other routines as per instructions, that will ensure the plant's availability and reliability.
  • Carry out training programs such as control room operating, fire fighting, and other plant related programs that enhances skills and knowledge.
  • Proper turn over to and from colleagues regarding about all the activities during the entire covered shift.
  • Performs other tasks and functions that may be required if situation arises. Example is during the time of the recent pandemic.
