I'm an experienced journalist, having spent the past seven years at the ABC in various roles. I've worked hard to continually learn new skills and improve my knowledge over a wide variety of topics, most recently focussing on climate change. I'm looking for a new challenge, with a hope to channel my energy into research and policy, to create meaningful impact in the fight against climate change.

  • Winner of the Australian Star Prize for Rural Broadcasting – 2021. I was awarded the prize for my work on the Black Summer bushfires which took out the video category and my radio documentary on the coronavirus pandemic in regional Australia. With the judges saying, they were impressed with the powerful storytelling in both pieces. “Jess' ability to sensitively tell these difficult stories highlighted the passion and resilience of the people directly affected. The stories shone a light on some of the hardships of rural life, but also the incredible people who are continuing to make a difference for their communities even in trying times.”
