  • Performed all aspects of a Secretary and Administrative Roll in the office of a leading horse stud in the Hunter Valley.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, used to lias with all management of said stud farm, along with outside contacts including Horse Transport Companies, Veterinary Practices, Sales Companies and Clients.
  • Created and updated spreadsheets to track and report horse husbandry related data (vaccinations, breakdown's of sales results etc)

Foaling Manager

  • Oversaw the running of the foaling unit during the 2022 breeding season where we foaled down 140+ mares and delivered the highest standard post-foaling care.
  • Liaising with upper management and owners with updates of foaling status, mare and foal updates etc
  • Assessing foal conformation and implementing management plans ie exercise restriction, contraction bandaging, systemic medications etc
  • Management of 2 hospital barns throughout season dealing with anything from fractures and illness to dummy foals requiring around the clock fluid and oxygen therapy.
  • Managed a small team of staff and trained new employees, ensuring the highest standard of care was met for the horses whilst still maintaining a high morale in the workplace.

Stud Hand/Assistant Foaling Manager

  • Worked at all major Australian yearling, weanling and breeding stock sales presenting large consignments of horses
  • Performed day to day checking and feeding of horses in paddocks
  • Assistant to foaling manager during the 21/22 breeding season where 140 mares passed through the unit in 2 years consecutive.
  • Identifying lameness, superficial wounds, illness and treating accordingly. Liaising with vet and farrier for more complex concerns.
  • Monitor mares post foaling and identify signs of colic, metritis or haemorrhage. Identify retained placenta and follow correct procedure and treatment of each scenario.
  • Performed simple lab tests including IgG, SAA and lactate on foals
  • Maintained a high standard of presentation and cleanliness throughout barns, crushes and all workspaces
