Personal Profile

I believe that I am a professional, supportive, loyal and respectful person, not only in the workplace but in all aspects of life. I have always seen myself as someone who is willing to go the extra mile to support and provide help and guidance for others. During my time with St Andrews I have been in a number of positions and have always taken a willingness to do my absolute best to ensure I uphold the professional standards and delivering the Gold Standard of Care that Ramsey Health have always provided. During my time I have been present I have been a Level 2 Anaesthetic Nurse and most recently been in the caretaker role of Floor Coordinator (AM) and quality auditor for the operating theatre. I strongly believe that I am always open and willing to do my absolute best to provide a positive result for anyone who comes to me for assistance and guidance. With my experiences and strong understanding of the Ramsey way, I often find myself supporting and helping out others who are looking for someone who can provide advice. Further, I have strong time management skills and understand the organisational side as I have shown through various working roles. I believe that through my passion for the career field I display a willingness to learn and understand new concepts, ideas and information. With this, I go the extra mile and if I am unsure of something, I will reach other to others or independently research to get an answer to my problem. Through my time I have used this idea to reach out to many other professionals here at St Andrews. I believe overall that I will do my absolute best to complete any task in an efficient and effective way whilst upholding the high standards of professionalism at all times.

Computer Skills

The desire to continually learn and grow extends through my ability to use the computer and necessary skills to keep up to date. Through this I have found myself with a proficient understanding of Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Reader and the use of Outlook and other email websites.

Through my present role, I have been provided with outstanding opportunities to enhance my skills and learn how to use the following:

  • My Time - in particular using the daily reports
  • Work Plan - access to help staff allocations, changes, break times and leave
  • Theatre Session - allocating and assigning sessions, edit changes to those sessions and assign Anaesthets for the next day
  • Auditing for the theatre department - DD registers fortnightly, collating data, faxing and entering data to computer
  • Meditech System - using for operating lists to be up to date in formulating staff, equipment and theatre usage
  • Assisting accreditation - policies and procedures
  • Recalls
  • Asset Plus - maitenance and repairs system
  • PCA set up lists
  • My Day - used to create daily to-do lists

Professional Experience

Throughout several decades I have found myself placed in many scenarios which have benefitted myself and my professional understanding and through the use of reflection I am able to appropriately share my learnings and experiences with others. Through this I have always maintained co-operative and productive working relationships with all members of the health care team. I have always offered assistance and responsibility graduate guide for our newly graduated nurses. Further, I have been apart of helping rewrite and edit policies and procedures as well as providing feedback for quality improvements in several areas. I have always looked to work close with peers and use it as a collaborative space to ensure decisions and changes are used to make it an easier place to work in. I have also been able to be apart of the process of trialling different equipment, such as: GlideScope, Difficult intubation trolley, anaesthetic machines, Suggamadex, opening new operating theatres. I believe that through these opportunities I have been able to participate in not only trialling these systems, I have been able to provide feedback and offer trialling opportunities for all to participate with. Through having a first hand, hands on experience, it benefits those who learn best in all ways. This information and learning outcomes from the opportunties are then taken back and passed on to those who ultimately make the decisions.
