Jiayang (Rob) Chen

Bayswater,WA

Summary

Originating from Shanghai, I embarked on my Australian journey at 17. Over the years, I've had the privilege of considering three vibrant Australian cities - Sydney, Perth, and Adelaide - my home, where I've diligently honed my skills while pursuing my studies. While at Curtin University, I specialised in hospitality and tourism, igniting a profound passion for customer service. My character is defined by kindness, a genuine love for assisting others, and establishing meaningful connections, leading to a substantial accumulation of expertise in tourism, front-end service, and hospitality management in Australia and China. Throughout my years of work experience, I've recognised myself as an optimist, maintaining a stable mood even when facing pressure and embracing a personality founded on principles of honesty and reliability. Currently, after another year staying in Adelaide, I finally made the decision to restart my life in Perth. I am looking forward to find more opportunities in this city and also find the potential of myself in the future.

  • In my capacity as a community ambassador within one of WeWork's largest projects in the Asia-Pacific region, boasting a membership exceeding 4,000 individuals, including prominent members like Amazon, Afterpay, Kraft Heinz, and Randstad, I am responsible for delivering daily reception and member services at WeWork Shanghai Plaza.
  • My duties encompass addressing critical member-related matters, such as contract renewals, room upgrades, move-in and move-out procedures, handling complaints, addressing billing issues, conducting walk-in tours, and overseeing facility maintenance for the entire project.
  • Furthermore, I actively promote WeWork's unique culture, particularly emphasizing the significance of community events.
  • I have been instrumental in organizing monthly community events and effectively introducing our venues to potential customers seeking to host paid events.
  • As a result of these efforts, the project has seen a substantial boost in revenue, with an annual increase of $100,000 attributed to my contributions.

Warehouse Forklift Operator

Energy Spurt
Adelaide, SA
06.2023 - 07.2024
  • My first time working in the solar industry, I felt appreciated. Energy Spurt could offer me a full-time job when I had just come back from Shanghai and restarted my new life in Adelaide after Covid times. The company helped me to obtain my forklift license, and I've been working as a forklift driver and operation team member for one year in the warehouse.
  • Despite driving the forklift, I was using my customer service experience and CRM system to track daily orders and deliveries. Looking after every customer and installer I met, to bring more effort to the company.
  • Also, I helped the customer service team to organize yearly solar events and loved representing the company participating in several road shows and exhibitions in South Australia.

Committee Member (Voluntary)

Art-Deco and Modernism Society of Australia(Adelaide Chapter)
Adelaide, SA
11.2023 - 07.2024
  • As a fan of history and modern architecture, I was pleased to join the Deco and Modernism Society and work as a committee member in the Adelaide Chapter. The most significant highlight of this experience was the first-ever Chinese-speaking event in South Australia's annual, famous History Festival. I organized a tour of 25+ people participating in this Mandarin-speaking event. Furthermore, I was working to promote this society and event through different media channels and communities in Adelaide. All the work I've done is driven by passion and love, and it was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful team.

Marketing and Social Media (Voluntary Role)

West Coast Eagles (AFL)
Perth, WA
06.2018 - 02.2021
  • From 2018 to 2020, I had the privilege of being a part of the Club's Marketing and Media team, where my primary role revolved around contributing to their Chinese engagement strategy.
  • During this period, we successfully organized game day events in collaboration with the local Chinese community and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in WA. On the social media side, the club's Weibo account, which was operated by myself, reached 10K followers in 2019.
  • These events included special invitations to players (Elliot Yeo and Brendon Ah Chee) to participate in local Chinese cultural gatherings and conduct player interviews within the Club's facilities. I also organized a multicultural round by inviting a Tai Chi Master group to perform before the Eagles vs. Demons' home game.
  • In addition to these responsibilities, I had the distinct honor of representing the club by hosting my FM 90.5 Radio station radio program, managing the Club's Chinese social media platforms, and serving as a sports columnist for Perth China Post (Both writing and recording in Chinese) which is still running at the moment.
  • This multifaceted role allowed me to actively engage with the Chinese community and contribute significantly to the Club's outreach efforts.

Restaurant Manager
