  • National Mental Health Helpline (Psychiatric Emergency Helpline) CAMHS( child and adolescent mental health service coordinator, Triage -coordinator, Shift coordinator, High Risk assessment team member, UBC Chair, Nursing Student Focal Point and coordinator, Date management and coordinator for Child and adolescent mental health service), assessment member of interim psychology service.
  • Was set up in 2020 in response to COVID-19 and has since been consolidated as a key access point for confidential, rapid response mental health support in the state of Qatar. Current service streams:
  • 1. vCAMHS - Child and adolescent mental health including support and guidance for parents
  • 2. NMHH - Adult mental health
  • 3. NMHH - Older adult mental health
  • 4. NMHH - Frontline health care staff support
  • 5. vIPS - Interim Psychology service
  • 6. vMHRC - Mental Health Refill Clinic
  • 7. vWMHS - Women’s mental health service (also piloting peri-natal mental health community team)
  • 8. vSBIRT - Substance use screening and brief intervention service (launching soon)
  • 9. vMHCRT - Mental Health Crises Response service (in piloting phase)

  • Duties-The services aim to respond to any and every kind of mental health related inquiry, whether it is about asking advice or about concerns over own/someone else’s mental health. Anyone and everyone (individuals and professionals), irrespective of age, gender, nationality or location, can access the service by calling 16 000 (choose language Arabic/English/ Malayalam/ Hindi) and choosing option 4 for mental health. All services are fully confidential, no entry is made in the caller’s medical records without separate consent from the person. The services are open from 8am to 8pm seven days a week. All aspects of the work are done either via telephone or using video consultation and are free of charge. The daily operational management of the NMHH is done by a group of experienced, specifically trained nurses called shift coordinators. They are responsible for safe and efficient service delivery at all times by the whole team. The NMHH team consists of mental health nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and variety of allied health professionals (e.g. social workers, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitian).

  • The hospital has established itself as an important treatment facility for mental disorders, catering to the needs of people in and around the state of Kerala. The unique feature of these 100 bedded hospitals is that it admits patients in a totally secure environment, with individual attention and nursing care bestowed to them. A team of committed, well-trained, and alert nursing staff, along with a multidisciplinary professional team which comprises of Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatric Social Workers and Psychiatric Nursing staff are designated for the care and management of the patients. The entire hospital staff makes sincere efforts to see that the patients are provided with homely, cozy atmosphere always. The hospital provides basic medical services within the campus. The 24-hour security provided by the hospital offers total protection from events of absconding by patients and similar incidents. There is a well-maintained canteen service which serves food and refreshments to the patients
  • Unit Description- The Inpatient unit is a 100 bedded unit. Following treatment on the psychiatric care, patients may be well enough to be discharged back into the community; or if requiring further inpatient specialist care, are transferred to the care of an appropriate specialty team in the hospital or transferred to another specialist hospital.
  • Duties- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the organizations policy and procedures and the unit scope of service. Ensures the registered nurse is informed of observations and care provided for patients and document appropriately. Responds to all levels of emergencies according to the organization’s policies and procedures. Actively attend monthly meeting and update and implement new institutional and policy change. Do the audit and provide feedback during meetings.

  • Unit Description Medical cardiac ward is a 27 bedded that specialises in medical cases Medical surgical Ward in 4th floor consists of 27 beds in which we care patients with Acute and chronic cardiac disease.
  • Duties ⦁ Monitor patient’s vital signs, prepare them for surgery, angiography, echo and administer medications. ⦁ Checking and recording patients’ vitals before and after cardiac procedures. Ensuring that all treatments are administered to patients correctly. Monitoring patients during BT transfusion and all IV treatment to identify any adverse reactions. ⦁ Promptly notifying the appropriate medical practitioner of any problems that occur during IN patient stay. ⦁ Educating patients on treatment, disease management, discharge follow-up as well as suitable nutrition and exercise regimens as advised.
