I am currently a PH.D student at the University of Queensland, School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of MEDICINE, with an extensive interest in the biomolecular pharmacology. My current project is exploring the clinical failure of one of the most important target for treating Diabeties, cholecystokinin 1 receptor (CCK1R). It is not clear why this drug failed. This project seeks to define the molecular pharmacology of CCK-58 against CCK-8 and the molecular basis for membrane cholesterol-dependent changes in stimulus-activity coupling. Ligand binding kinetics, G protein activation kinetics, the subcellular organization of signaling components and cellular outputs are all measured to provide a complete description of CCK-58 and CCK-8 activity in cells with varying membrane cholesterol content. This data provides useful insights that should help to inform future drug discovery programs.
I publish in leading international journals. I have 5 international peer-reviewed original research papers (1st contributing author in the past 5 years, including Cell proliferation, Phytotherapy research, Antioxidants, American Journal of Physiology), and two patents with contributing inventors.
