I grew up in a small town called Mansfield, living on a 5th generation family farm called Wappan which borders lake Eildon. Wappan is a fine wool and beef breeding property running 15,000 sheep and 500 Angus cows and has a small tourist operation on 8000 acres. I have consistently worked on the farm helping out my Dad as much as I can.
For education I attended the local Steiner school. One of my favourite aspects of this school was an outdoor ed program where I spent 58 days during the school year camping out in the bush with just an an 18-kilogram hiking pack. At the end of year 9 I moved to Melbourne to finish off my education at Xavier College in Kew. I was a member of the boarding house for 3 years and obtained a high-level of education whilst also branching out my network of friends and contacts.
After school I made the decision to move up to the Northern Territory to work on Newcastle Waters Station. Here I spent a year living and working in a remote part of the country with around 45 other people. I worked in a small crew as a first year ringer mustering on both horseback and motorbike, working in the yards drafting, branding and much more. This experience not only highly improved my work skills but also my teamwork, physical and mental resilience, and strong work ethic.
I am now looking to broaden my knowledge and skills further in the agricultural industry, through working in more sectors, meeting new people and seeing different country.
