Projects

  • Wall Furnace Assembly , Seeley International from Dec 2022 - March 2023

Project: Lifting & Merging of Sub-assemblies in main assembly line.

Description: OHS project that was implemented in production assembly line to eliminate manual lifting & handling of heavy sub-assemblies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Project Plan & CPR.
  • Develop detailed design to modify the assembly line to have a lift and tilt mechanism to avoid any manual handling of the heavy sub-assemblies.
  • The tilt mechanism incorporated two electric actuators pulling on a lifting arm that is hinged at a revolute joint that will in turn lift the assembly using the free end to nearly 80 degrees for fastening some screws from underneath the assembly. The mechanism then pulls back the assembly back using two magnets that has been attached to the free end of lifting arm.
  • The lift mechanism incorporates four set of pneumatic actuators with two sets acting at separate times based on the assembly stage they are in. A flow control valve and guard mechanism has been incorporated for safe operation of the mechanism.
  • Issue drawings for fabrication of parts and assemblies. Also, issue POs for purchasing of any parts.

  • Heat Exchanger Pipe Pressing , Seeley International from Jun 2021 - Feb 2022

Project: Design and implement a hydraulic press for a new HX design

Description: Press a bend Aluminum HX tube at two different locations using a hydraulic press. Design the hydraulic press incorporating two different hydraulic cylinder with die blocks to press the pipe into required cross-sectional thickness.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project plan & CPR.
  • Calculate for the tonnage for the pipe pressing. Find a suitable hydraulic cylinder that meets the working pressure range to fit this tonnage calculated.
  • Develop a detailed design of the hydraulic press frame accounting for the safety interlocks and cage to prevent any pinch points. The structural frame also had to account for the load that had to be handle by the whole press-system.
  • The press design had to account for issues like tube end ovality, spring-back of bed tube, and controlled stroke of the hydraulic cylinder during pressing operation.
  • Structural FEA analysis were done to check for the reliability of the press under operation. Few iterations and modifications were made to the design before finalizing a design.
  • Developed assembly and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with purchasing department to issue POs and get parts from suppliers where needed.

  • Heat Exchanger Assembly Jig , Seeley International from Jun 2021 - Feb 2022

Project: Design and implement a HX assembly jig for new PWF30/40 heaters.

Description: Design and fabricate an assembly jig to assist the production to make a HX sub-assembly with minimal changeover between two similar models PWF30 & PWF40.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project plan and CPR( Capital Project Request)
  • Develop detailed design and drawings for fabrication.
  • Order for laser cut parts and clamps for jig from external suppliers.

  • AIRA Gluing Table, Seeley International from Sept 2020 - Mar 2021

Project: Glue table for gluing two halves of industrial AIRA Plastic Reservoirs, Seeley International from Sept 2020 - May 2021

Description: Combine the assembly table to eliminate changeovers between different models.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabricate an industrial glue station to replace existing ones to account for any raised warranty and service issues.
  • The AIRA product range has different plastic reservoirs that need different fixtures to join two halves together. The primary objective was to have in place a gluing station that would need minimum change over between the models.
  • The new glue table has removed the need for huge change-over between different designs.
  • Reduced manual handling and lifting.

  • Australian Ballet Project , RMIT Research Project from July 2017 - May 2018

Project: Identifying the primary cause of damage to tutu costumes when subject to dry-cleaning

Description: To identify the primary cause of structural damages incurred by tutu costumes when subject to dry-cleaning process.

Responsibilities: Conducting Experiments on tutu costumes by varying washing parameters using available dry-cleaning processes and quantify the acquired experimental results in order to understand the variables that have the least and the most effect on the structural damage of tutu costumes.

Achievements: Able to identify the primary cause that had the most effect on structural damage of tutu costumes and was also able to provide some feasible solution for mitigation of the identified risk.
