  • Organize anhydrous ammonia application and ensue the correct training is provided

  • Inducting new staff and ensuring competency in machinery operations and understanding safe working practices and obligations to the workplace and colleagues
  • Liaising with service providers and suppliers when necessary to achieve the best outcome for the farm (Agronomists, Fertilizer & Chemical suppliers, spray contractors etc.)
  • Developing and implementing Irrigation schedules in conjunction with Agronomist's recommendations and monitoring the progress of all developments
  • Developing Job lists and coordinating staff to complete tasks in a timely, efficient manner
  • Assisting and Mentoring new and existing staff to ensure operations are conducted to a high standard (machinery set-up, machinery faults or breakdowns, planting operations, weed control etc)
  • Liaising and reporting to the General manager to ensure a common goal is met and farming practices are carried out to the highest standards
  • Planning operations in advance and communicating plans with management and staff
  • Delegate staff and seasonal workers
  • Organize and supervise planting through to harvest and storage
  • Make sure all the farm equipment and machinery is maintained

  • Started with P&J Harris and Sons as a Farm Hand in Wee Waa (Cudgewa) where I was mostly involved in tractor work, irrigating summer and winter crops and broadacre operations. I was then promoted to a supervisor role.
  • I was then promoted to assistant manager and was transferred to Mallawa (Krui) near Moree. Krui was a large irrigation and broadacre operation. My responsibilities was to ensure the farm was field ready for planting, cultivations were done on time and chemical applications was organized. I was also in charge of the broadacre planting through to harvest, record keeping, working close with the on farm agronomist, organizing trucks and contractors
  • I was then transferred to Carinda (Mirralwyn) near Walgett. At Mirralwyn we grew up to 18000 acres of irrigated cotton. My responsibilities was to manage field operations, record keeping, manage large harvest crews, recruiting staff, manage all workshop operations, organize trucks for fertilizer delivery and grain handling.
