John Butterworth

I started at Nudgee year 11 2024, as a boarder. This was a huge change for me as i have never been away from my family for long periods of time. Living away from my family for almost the 2 full years, taught me to be independent as i had to manage my life and time by myself. Through this big change, i have found i am able to adapt quickly and learn how completely new schedules work. While independently finding my way through school, i also had a number of commitments such as:

• Soccer - The year 11 A Team and Year 12 B (2nds) with 3 trainings per week
• Athletics - 2024/2025 GPS Track and Field Team with 4 trainings per week
• Volleyball and Basketball

Through some difficult injuries and illnesses, i was incredibly motivated enough to persevere through these challenges. While also studying hard.

Before moving down to Brisbane to begin boarding at my new school, I undertook Year 10 work experience at Montville State School as a teacher aide. I chose this place as I not only enjoyed it, but thought it would benefit skills such as:

• Communicating with a variety of different people
• Handling a stressful environment.
• Followed a schedule.
• Understood good time management.

Tasks i completed are:

• Assisted teachers in preparing classroom materials and resources.
• Supervised children and participated with children in activities.
