Self Employed
Concreting + Electrical Work
02.2002 - 12.2024
From starting my career in concreting in 2002 i have experimented in my own time with concrete, self-learning about different types of concrete and different ventures that can be explored. I started to complete imprinted concrete driveway projects in my spare time for friends and family until i became confident to form my own business. I then decided to form my own business and advertised this using social media platforms, leaflets which would be posted in my spare time and eventually had signs made to advertise on jobs that had been completed. I ran this business in my spare time alongside working for the jobs stated above. It was my job to sell my business to the best of my ability. I would visit customers, talk them through the process, show them different patterns that they could choose from, along with the different color variety. I would have a look around the area that they wanted the job completing on and take measurements along with any other information i needed in relation to grids / falls. I would then produce a drawing of their driveway for them to look at along with a quote. I would support and advise the customers on the best options, colours and designs to best suit their property based on my vast experience. I had a small team of lads who i would direct and support in completing the job to the highest standard. Working as a team we would complete the driveway prep including the rip out of the previous surface, installing drainage, applying mot and finally laying the new driveway.

07.2010 - 10.2019
Becoming more advanced in concrete started from working at Ibstock Kevington’s. My role was working within the precast factory as a precaster on the shopfloor. Working as part of a team i broadened my skill set by participating in further training to learn about steel fixing and concrete shuttering. I gained my licence to use the forklifts as well as the overhead crane which enhanced my scope of progressing in my job role. Already having a knowledge of how to read and interpret drawings, this became more advanced with the different structural projects involved in precasting such as brick faced concrete lintels, brick faced arches and brick faced concrete fascia's. Some of the other roles included building / setting up bespoke moulds, concrete shuttering, managing the loading of vehicles, creating lifting plans, building cages and the usage of required machinery such as the batching machine and its maintenance. During my time in this role, i became a team leader which involved me managing and allocating work to other team members ensuring competence due to working under pressured time frames. This enhanced my leadership skills and i became competent in using my initiative and enhanced my problem-solving skills whilst working under pressure.
