Delivering Ready Mixed Concrete to a mix of customers including a Precast Concrete products factory and building sites
My role at Lomas Distribution was to collect and deliver bulk powders on a 44 ton articulated LGV . Deliveries were to varying customers with a selection of powders including cement , lime , fly ash, sand and various other products. Delivery would take place on either gravity fed belly tanks or tipping tanks. Mostly working out of quarries and manufacturing sites, involving operating machinery to load the powders. Safety measures were employed whilst loading procedures took place. A great deal of my time spent with Lomas Distribution would be spent operating within Tarmac sites, particularly Tunstead site in Buxton.
My responsibilities in this role was to drive a 44 ton articulated vehicle delivering food to supermarkets and to collect back hauls. Whilst working for DHL I spent 18 months working in the transport office as a transport coordinator.
Initially when I started this employment I was employed as a Loading Shovel driver. When I reached the age of 21 I passed my class 1 hgv licence and changed my employment to the transport department within the company. As a company tanker driver I was responsible for loading and delivering company sand and powder products. All these deliveries were made with a tipping powder tank, then laterally a belly tank trailer.
